Cascade Horse Shows is pleased to announce that stall reservations, RV site, and golf cart requests for our 2026 Cascade Classic and Cascade Open horse shows will open by 9:00 am Monday, April 20th!  The prize list will be available at the same time.

This season we are bringing you even more great USEF-rated and Cascade Spotlight classes, delivered with the famous hospitality and family-friendly vibe that Cascade shows are known for. And like last year, our 2026 Cascade Open show will feature exciting USHJA Outreach competition.

Remember that the Cascade Finals is your last opportunity to earn Circuit Cup points, and all points earned at this show count 1.5x!  This is the show where we tally the results and bestow accolades, big-ass ribbons, and hundreds of dollars’ worth of prizes to our annual Circuit Cup award winners. You do not want to miss it!

Stalls are expected to sell out again this year, so trainers, please make your stall reservations soon!

Let’s do it again–this time at our year-end Championships show, the 2025 Cascade Finals, to be held September 4-7 at Washington State Horse Park.

If our June shows were any indication, we’re in for another extraordinary time. Filled to capacity (quite literally!) with great horses and wonderful winning moments, there were smiles to be seen everywhere.

That’s why we are excited to announce that our Cascade Finals prize list will be posted and stall reservations will open for trainers on Wednesday, July 23. We will also be accepting RV site requests and golf cart requests at that time. Entries through the Cascade website will open on or before Monday July 28.

The Cascade Finals is our season finale, our Championship show, the show where it happens!

🏆Circuit Cup Champions, assemble! Yes, this is the show where those magnificent six high-points horses and riders are awarded the title, the honor, the loot (and that Big Ass Ribbon ™) of being named Cascade Circuit Cup Champions in the categories of:

1. – USHJA Hunter Derby

4. – Hunter 3’ and up

Dear competitors and friends of Cascade Horse Shows,

We are just two weeks away from the start of this year’s Cascade shows, and I’d like to provide you with an update.

First, we are incredibly thankful for the support and enthusiasm that makes our Cascade shows such a fun-filled time at the Washington State Horse Park (WSHP) each year. We truly could not do this without you.

New, Expanded Show Schedules

This season, the June competitions have new names, and each has its own unique schedule and events. There is a lot to fit into three weeks! I can assure you that a lot of thought has gone into providing competition schedules that consider the wellbeing of horses, riders, parents and professionals.

Cascade Preview:  The Cascade Preview will offer a more relaxed, low-key opportunity for young and green horses or those wanting a warm-up week for the Classic and Open. It will still have a “real show” feel but the schedule will be more laid back and we are offering ticketed schooling rounds over multiple days. On Friday we have a new Hunter Classic to showcase Young and Green Hunters. And on Saturday the Young Jumpers will have the opportunity to compete during the evening atmosphere just before the Whittier Trust Grand Prix set at 1.25m.

Cascade Classic:  The Cascade Classic is just as the name would imply. The schedule is very similar to previous years’, with the addition of the Cascade Hunter Team Trials class on Friday evening. And we are excited to welcome Barn Pros Nationwide as a brand new Sponsor for Saturday evening’s $10,000 1.30m Grand Prix.

Cascade Open:  The Cascade Open will be five days and now carries a USEF Jumper 3 rating. We’ve increased our Jumper sections up to 1.30m and there is a new $10,000 Grand Prix brought to you by Horseware Ireland and The Absolute Horse.  In addition, we have expanded our Outreach offerings for this show.

Fundraising and Community Events

We are excited to be hosting several worthy fundraising and community events throughout June that will coincide with our Happy Hours:

• June 13^th  | Come learn about local equestrians Ashleigh Rauen and Margarat Keers as they prepare to compete in the 2026 Gaucho Derby in Patagonia.

• June 14^th  | The Woodbrook Hunt Club and the Woodbrook Foundation will share how they are working to keep recreational and competitive riding opportunities accessible in our state.

• June 27^th  | We’ll focus on equestrian opportunities for youth. Topics to include IEA, WASET, and USPC.

Education Events

On Thursdays each week, we will offer special events dedicated to education, generously sponsored by the Washington State Hunter Jumper Association (WSHJA).

• June 12^th  | Join us for a discussion with Marcos Arriaza as he talks about bringing young horses along and his system that brings on confident, adventurous and happy horses.

• June 19^th  | Dr. Kelly Farnsworth of Washington State University will offer a unique Q&A. Topics range from “do you want to be a veterinarian” to “what are the best practices for maintaining my horse’s joint health” and “how do we best protect our traveling horses from disease”.

• June 26^th  | We’ll have a thoughtful conversation lead by me and judge Bridget Imparato-Moncada. Lets discuss how we can improve our sport for our horses. They are the beings that bring us together and I believe we all share in the common goal of protecting and enhancing their wellbeing.

Upon arrival, you will notice that the park looks a little different this year. A lot has been done to firewise the grounds. The trees and underbrush have been manicured and it really gives a different view. After witnessing the devastating wildfires in California, it is a relief to know that Horse Park management has put a special emphasis on protecting and preserving the grounds and ensuring safety for all of us.

In addition, much of the public address (PA) system is now permanent and we have high hopes that this will offer a higher quality and more consistent address system in the barn areas and around the park.

We ask all of our Cascade Horse Shows attendees to please remember that the Washington State Horse Park is not a state park. It is operated by a 501c3 non-profit organization and governed by a volunteer board of directors. Its mission is to serve equestrian communities of all disciplines in Washington State with an expansive, beautiful competition and riding facility with amenities designed for multi-use. We are fortunate to have it.

Please be Good Stewards of the Horse Park

The WSHP welcomes the Hunter Jumper community. We do have some of the highest expectations among all the disciplines that use the Horse Park each season, which means that our events can be quite demanding. The Horse Park staff always do their best to accommodate us. We assure you that the preparation with regards to arena footing, longing surfaces and stabling areas starts well before we arrive. Yes, there is always more we yearn for, but we thank the WSHP for making the effort to accommodate us.

We need to be good stewards of the park. As you enjoy our shows, please pick up after yourself and your horse. Drive slowly and with care. Notify an official if you see something concerning or that needs attention. Do not modify stalls or the grounds without permission from management. Consider the waste that is created through excessive bedding of stalls. All this adds up, and a little thought to care and conservation can go a long way to helping the WSHP not have to raise stall, RV and disposal fees.

Also, please remember that dogs need to be kept on leashes. Dogs are welcome, but please have a plan for your canine companions; they need to have a kennel or be on a leash. This is for the safety of the dogs, horses and humans.

An Exciting New Show Season

Our new 2025 season lineup promises something special for every level of rider and will provide great opportunities for horses to shine.

Our lead off show, the Cascade Preview, is open to all horses and riders but will in addition offer classes especially tailored for young and green horses. In weeks 2 and 3, we are offering more jumper prize money and a higher level of rated competition. Three shows will also offer USHJA Outreach classes.

With 2025 just around the corner, you are probably wondering if this is the year we will finally get flying cars… Well, we are not holding out hope for that one, but our hopes for the 2025 show year have never been higher! 😊

With a bunch of new additions and improvements all around, Cascade is hitting the future in full stride.  Starting with the introduction of a brand-new show, higher ratings*, and streamlined show names across the season:

Introducing the Cascade Preview

We believe there’s an opportunity to better serve the greater Northwest hunter jumper community with young horse development. Therefore, Swiftwater Invitational (our week one show) is becoming the Cascade Preview.

The Cascade Preview is open to all horses and riders, but is uniquely focused on offering a relaxed learning environment in which young and green horses can gain exposure to competitive showing. This 5-day show has specifically designed classes, schedules, and courses—to help keep costs lean and training time efficient. And even if you are not training up a young or green horse, this show is a great opening event for our shows the following two weeks.

We are super excited about this show and look forward to working with our community to make sure this event exceeds expectations.

Improved Full Season Lineup with Spotlight Championships

The rest of our show lineup is also getting a boost. The Cascade Classic (formerly Alpine Preview) is returning with more prize money across all sections. Our Cascade Open (formerly Pacific Crest Open) is expanding to a 5-day show with a new National Hunter (Channel 1) and Jumper 3 rating*. And the Cascade Finals is coming back with additional year-end Spotlight class championships. Stay tuned for more details.
