2023 Cascade Finals Named USHJA Outreach Festival Event

We’ve always known that our Cascade Finals (Sep. 7-10) horse show was special, but this year we are proud to share that our season finale has been named as the United States Hunter Jumper Association’s Zone 9 Outreach Festival event for 2023!

An Outreach Festival is the culmination of a series of USHJA Outreach events held across multiple venues throughout the year. Outreach Festivals bring the excitement and thrill of a championship-level competition closer to home at an affordable price.

We have long offered USHJA Outreach competition at our Pacific Crest Open (June 29 – July 2) show, and bringing this competition to our newly expanded, 4-day Cascade Finals event is exciting for us. As an Outreach Festival, the Cascade Finals will be even more appealing to riders of all ages and levels.

USHJA Outreach Competition

USHJA Outreach competition has grown in popularity in recent years among riders who are newer to the Hunter Jumper sport. Outreach riders can compete in USHJA-branded events and earn points toward year-end awards, with a chance to participate in USHJA National Championships. Any rider may compete in Outreach Hunter, Jumper and Equitation classes, but riders wishing to earn points must have a free USHJA Outreach membership (or any other USHJA membership; US Equestrian membership not required). Horses must be registered to be tracked, but otherwise do not need to be registered or microchipped to participate in Outreach classes.

2023 Zone 9 USHJA Outreach Series

In addition to our Pacific Crest Open and Cascade Finals shows, the 2023 USHJA Outreach Series for Zone 9 (Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming) includes:

WSHJA – Monroe, WA
Burkwood Farm, Lynden, WA
LWSC – Kirkland, WA
High Timber – Spokane, WA
Quiet Rein/Heirloom Sherwood & Battle Ground, WA
Bedrock shows – Wilsonville, OR
Rolling Rock, Sherwood, OR
MDT – Aurora, OR
HDHJA – Bend, OR
Treasure Valley – Nampa, ID
Big Sky – Bozeman, MT

To compete in an Outreach Festival, riders must participate in at least one other Outreach Series competition. Competing in an Outreach Festival qualifies you for regional recognition, awards, ribbons and prizes.

Cascade Circuit Cup Finals

Don’t forget that the Cascade Finals is your last opportunity to earn points toward our 2023 Cascade Circuit Cup awards. Winners will receive valuable prizes and recognition. Plus, all points earned in September will count 1.5x times toward your season total!

We look forward to bringing you another great showing experience this September, filled with fun and challenging classes (now including USHJA Outreach classes!), abundant free hospitality, and of course, that welcoming Cascade Horse Shows vibe.

Stall Reservations

Please reserve stalls for your horses and tack in advance. (We cannot accept entries without stall reservations.) Note: only trainers, their authorized agents, or individual exhibitors not affiliated with a trainer may reserve stalls. We strive to confirm all stall reservations within 7-10 business days:

RV Site and Golf Cart requests

RV site and golf cart requests are open to everyone. Keep in mind that the Horse Park has a limited number of sites with hookups, and not all sites can accommodate all types of vehicles. We assign sites based on the size and type of RV, length of stay, and date/time of request, with priority given to sponsors. We strive to meet the needs of as many people as possible, but if we cannot accommodate your request for a hookup, dry camping is always an option. If you are thinking you would like to rent a golf cart, please submit your request for one of those too.

Our shows and RV spaces consistently sell-out so please get your requests in as soon as possible! Please do not hesitate to reach out to us via email at if you have any questions or any difficulty in making your requests.

As always, we are looking forward to seeing you soon in Cle Elum!

Cheers to Another Year of Awesomeness!

All because you decided to come show with us, we have so many reasons to celebrate 2022, and even more to look forward to in the new year:

  • Sponsors were abundant. Much of what makes our shows special happens through the support of our sponsors. From our generous show barns and businesses, to passionate individuals: you all supported our shows. And that makes all the difference in what we can offer, and you can enjoy.
  • Opportunity met talent. Thanks to grants provided by Sea Mountain / Chubb, some of our young riders got a little extra to cover the costs of showing, helping them to realize opportunities that their talent and dedication deserved.
  • Young horses and OTTB Thoroughbreds got a break on show fees.  In 2022, we had 24 horses participate in this program, which is generously sponsored by IOS Ranch. Cascade Horse Shows is proud to offer a showing experience that is just right for where these horses are in their development.
  • Hospitality was all-inclusive. Dinners to drinks; donuts to mimosas–all were inclusive for you to enjoy at our shows this year. It’s the fun times spent with family, friends, and fellow showgoers and the beautiful Washington State Horse Park setting that helps to make each Cascade show a “showcation”.
  • New and familiar faces. We welcomed quite a few new competitors in 2022, from both near and far. We loved getting to know each of you, as well as hosting so many of our long-time exhibitors. We are eager to welcome all of you back in 2023.
  • Our amazing staff and crew. Finally, we must call out the people who go beyond the call of duty to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible, and that everyone is taken care of in ways that say, “we are glad you are here”: our committed Cascade staff and crew. It can’t be overstated: these people are the lifeblood of the “Cascade vibe” that we pride ourselves on delivering year after year. Whether it’s helping get your stabling or RV spaces sorted, capturing your indelible memories in pictures, ensuring you have a good experience in the show ring, or even, dare we say, making your visits to the Show Office surprisingly friendly and efficient… Our hardworking staff makes it all possible.

So, for all of this and more… Thank YOU!!

2023 is poised to be another great year. Each year we come together as a community. Each year we add to the experience. Each year we enjoy the beautiful setting of the Washington State Horse Park. In 2023, we will have three show weeks in June and a 4-day Finals in September.

See you in the new year!

Your Cascade Team

Announcing Our 2023 Season (With Something New!)

Thank you to our wonderful community for the thrills, fun, and excitement you shared with us in 2022. We were especially touched by the warmth and generosity you showed to our new partner and competitions manager Jennifer Hansen as she took up the reins at Cascade. A quality horse show is harder to produce than it seems, and our entire management team and staff felt your appreciation, which makes the behind-the-scenes effort worthwhile.

Last season brought some welcome changes (new vendors, streamlined ring schedules, new sponsors, shorter days, yay!), as well as new Spotlight classes that many of you told us you loved. Seeing so many talented teams come together to ride the Cascade Memorial Cup for the benefit of their chosen charities was amazing. Reading the engaging essays submitted by our young junior riders for the Shannon Hendrickson Memorial Grant (presented by Sea Mountain and Chubb Insurance) was a season highlight for us.

To that end, we are eager to bring you even more in our upcoming 2023 show season. And for this new season, we are making some changes we think you’ll appreciate: We are moving the Pacific Crest Open up by two weeks to run consecutively with our Swiftwater Invitational and Alpine Preview shows, so we can now offer you three weeks of showing in June. In addition, our season-ending Cascade Finals is now extended to 4 days (USEF approval pending).

With one extra day off before the 4-day Pacific Crest Open, we plan to offer educational opportunities at the beautiful Washington State Horse Park in Cle Elum, and encourage you to explore the area, trail ride, hike, shop local businesses and of course enjoy Cascade Horse Shows hospitality!

Save these dates!

We are excited to be bringing back all the thrilling competition, generous hospitality, and the unique camaraderie you look forward to at Cascade shows. So, mark your calendars now for the most fun hunter jumper horse shows of the season!

Don’t miss our season finale

Our 2022 Cascade Finals is filled with fun and challenging classes, our signature free hospitality, and of course, that welcoming Cascade Horse Shows vibe.

To all of you who are already planning on being at the show, we thank you for your support. Without the patronage of our wonderful community, we could not continue bringing you your favorite showing experiences of the year.

We look forward to seeing all of you soon in Cle Elum!

Our Community: Achieving What It Cares About

“There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.”
– Margaret J. Wheatley

This has never been more evident than with our community of devoted sponsors, donors and patrons who contribute so much to support your showing experience. They care about the same things you care about, which is why they do what they do to help make our shows special.

You care about having a horse-friendly venue where horses leave feeling as good as when they arrived. We are fortunate to partner with the Washington State Horse Park–a venue with abundant natural “horse-friendly” features. However, it still takes annual investment in arena footing and surrounding amenities to make the improvements that keep our horses feeling their best. You make this possible through your attendance, matched by:

  • The generous donation of the Hallman-Luhn Family of Equidae Farm, combined with a corporate match from Microsoft and the individual support of many of our exhibitors, which has funded the matting of all the permanent stalls at the Horse Park.
  • The multi-year sponsorships of Farpoint Farm, Legacy Hunters & Jumpers, Sundance Equestrian combined with the Cascade Partnership’s ongoing reinvestment in the Horse Park, which has helped to fund annual re-grading of the footing in every arena, plus helped to purchase the equipment that maintains it.

When you win, you care about feeling like a winner at every level: taking that victory gallop, joining the awards presentations, and receiving quality prizes. We know you have as much reason to celebrate in winning a round at 18″ as at 1.30m. Thanks to the sponsorship of these fine businesses and the stellar people who run them, we are able to offer you more prize money, more prizes, and more recognition at all levels:

You care about showing in an inclusive environment where you and your whole family feel appreciated and welcomed. One way we bring that to you is through our complimentary happy hours and hospitality events. These are delivered to you through the generous sponsorship of:

You care about having fun and distinctive classes that uniquely challenge your riding and horsemanship: You help us create these through your attendance, matched by the sponsorships of:

You care about creating opportunities for those “just starting out”,  be it horse or rider. And thanks to sponsorship of IOS Ranch, we are able to offer you our Young Horses / OTTB Thoroughbreds Show Free program. And with the support of SeaMountain Insurance and Chubb, we are able to offer the Shannon Hendrickson Memorial Grants.

Whether through our community’s charitable donations to the Horse Park, our sponsors’ generous support, or your continued attendance at each of our shows, we are in this venture together to achieve what we collectively care about most: having great showing opportunities in Washington State.

And for that we are truly thankful.
